UCA Community Foundation Announces Recipients of 2025 UCACF Awards

The UCA Community Foundation (UCACF) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 UCACF Awards, who will be honored at the upcoming 2025-2026 Board Inauguration and Annual Charity Gala. The gala is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM PT at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos, California. These awards recognize outstanding contributions to the community, aligning with UCACF’s mission to enrich and empower the Chinese American and AAPI communities.

The 2025 UCACF Award recipients are:

UCACF Community Leadership Award: Albert Wang. Dr.

Albert Wang is a physician and co-founder of Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN). He has a long history of community service, with his work at FCSN stemming from personal experience and a desire to support families facing similar challenges. FCSN provides support, education, and programs for individuals with special needs and their families. Dr. Wang’s community involvement also includes roles with the American Cancer Society and APAPA, among others.

UCACF Community Inspiration Award: Asian Youth Liberty League (ALLY) and Alex Qi.

The Asian Youth Liberty League is a student-run non-profit founded in 2016 with the mission to educate young Asian Americans to be thinkers, speakers, and leaders. Operating through chapters in ten cities, ALLY empowers youth through programs focused on leadership, public speaking, and civic engagement, such as voter registration and efforts against anti-Asian violence.

Alex Qi, a student from Algonquin Regional High School, holds leadership positions in the Science Research Club, Science National Honor Society, and Asian Culture Club. His notable activities include fundraising for an AAPI book collection, securing a UCACF grant, organizing a service project, volunteering at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and serving as a Youth Leader for the New England Chinese American Alliance, where he has been involved in event planning, lobbying, and introducing AAPI culture.

UCACF Community Service Award: Qian Ge and Sharon Chang.

Both Qian Ge and Sharon Chang are founding team members of UCACF and devoted volunteers since day one. They are recognized for their contributions to the development of UCACF and devotion to community service.

The theme of this year’s gala is “Solidarity and Resilience: Challenges and Opportunities for the Chinese American Community Amidst Geopolitical Tensions and Global Trade Conflicts.” It will feature insightful perspectives from prominent speakers addressing the critical gala theme. We are honored to have Kenneth Fong as our distinguished keynote speaker. A compelling fireside chat will feature esteemed guest speakers Haipei Shue, Chyanne Chen, and Louis Lam, hosted by Diana Ding, founder of Ding Ding TV. They will share invaluable insights on how the Chinese community can effectively navigate contemporary challenges and crises, unite to build stronger communities, and safeguard civil rights and the living environment.

The charity gala is also the cornerstone fundraising event that fuels UCACF’s impactful microgrant program, providing essential “angel funds” to foster creative startup community projects. Following a successful 2024 where UCACF approved 45 projects and awarded $85,700 in microgrants, the foundation is aiming to double its grantmaking capacity in 2025 to support more vital community initiatives. The gala provides an opportunity to hear inspiring stories of project impact and connect with civic leaders, community advocates, and business professionals who support the AAPI community at the grassroots level.

Join us for this unforgettable evening as we celebrate remarkable achievements, foster meaningful connections, and collectively strengthen the future of the Chinese American and AAPI communities!
