FINE FOOD AND FASHION
By Gerrye Wong March 28, 2025
It was the classic Afternoon Tea experience of Alexander’s Patisserie of Cupertino. Alexander’s patisserie is a French pastry concept that combines classic techniques with contemporary aesthetics and luxurious flair. But on a special invitation only event of where Alexanders Steakhouse and Jasmine Galleria collaborated to put on an especially delicious tea experience while spotlighting the fashions of Jasmine Galleria, a Taiwan based company of beautiful and elegant couture. At the Cupertino site, Alexanders President Chanile Chang welcomed everyone to this afternoon titled “Sizzling Love”.
Jasmine Galleria showed off its latest collection before a select group of 60 Asian American women of Silicon Valley. Jasmine Galleria is a joint venture of likeminded individuals from diverse fields where they are united by a mission to bring beauty to all women. This was their first fashion show experience in the US and it seemed from the reaction of the diners, will not be the last. The next show on their calendar is on September 12 at the Mandarin Oriental Taipei, with an anticipated crowd of 500 attendees.
In the meantime one wanting to see their full 2025 collection may view them at https.//www.jasminegalleria.com/twl, but obviously seeing them up close while munching on the Alexanders’ specialty macaron cookie was definitely a special occasion. Four models efficiently walked around Alexanders’ famed comfortable booths before flashing cameras and audience cell phones . I especially admired the different uses of fabrics and colors with the collection shown this afternoon. The lengths of the outfits ran the gamut of very short, mid calf and all the way down to the floor length.
It was a pleasant chore of trying to savor the Alexander specialty tea items while watching the ladies model in this Jasmine production. Starting off the show was the beautiful music by famed violinist Mia Wang who strolled among the audience to set the scene of elegant splendor.
The inviting three tiered gold tray grabbed the attention of the guests as much as the fashions. Created by Meilleur Ouvrier de France and James Beard-winning Chef Claude Le Tohic, the petite sandwiches came with crab, smoked salmon & cucumber. Beautifully crafted desserts included rose lychee tarts, Hazelnut chocolate mousse, and pink guava. My favorite was Opere, a French layered almond jaconde sponge. Alexander Patisserie next door of the Steakhouse is a favorite meeting place for youth checking the weather report, the delicacies in the display cases and bringing the vibrancy of the school group.
Alexanders of Cupertino has once again become a great place to enjoy its unique architecture and fine food. Ogling Jasmine’s couture fashions in such a classic dining area was the best experience to savor latest specialty fashion alongside a three tier tray of specialty fare and dessert. Let’s hope Alexanders will continue to partner with fashion designers to put on more unique productions for their loyal customers. I think a relaxing tea is the perfect way to reconnect with friends and loved ones over a seasonal assortment fresh pastries, macarons, sandwiches, chocolates and tea.
