Ding Ding TV, the leading voice for the Silicon Valley Asian Americans, celebrates 15th anniversary

On Friday, November 15th, over 100 people gathered to celebrate Ding Ding TV’s 15th anniversary. Founded in 2009 by Diana Ding, Ding Ding TV is the leading voice for the Silicon Valley Asian American community.

Elected officials, community leaders, and supporters of Ding Ding TV that participated in the celebration included Assemblymember Evan Low, Phuong Nguyen (Representative of Senator Dave Cortese), Mayor of Santa Clara Lisa Gillmor, Mayor of Saratoga Yan Zhao, Mayor of Fremont Raj Salwan, Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg, Santa Clara County Supervisor Betty Duong, San Jose Councilmember Bien Doan, and Maggie Lee (the Representative of Alameda County Assessor Phong La).

At the event, Diana Ding said: “Tonight is more than just a celebration; it’s a testament to what we’ve built together, the values we share, and the dreams we’re still chasing… Ding Ding TV has become more than a media platform. We’ve become a bridge—a place where diverse cultures and communities come together… This community is more than just a collection of stories—it’s a legacy of resilience, compassion, and honesty. Together, we’re building a foundation that will inspire our next generations.”

Sandy Close (Founder and Director of Ethnic Media Services) said: “Every day, I am inspired by the people working in the ethnic media because they are embedded in the communities they serve. This is not a media that is creating stories from the outside in; it is a media that is inspired to tell the stories from the inside out… And Diana, you are an exemplar of that… The Chinese media have been the heart and soul, the inspiration I have drawn from for almost 30 years.”

Dr. Ken Fong (Founder and Chairman, Kenson Ventures) stated: “I think Diana is such a person that can relate to people beyond the Chinese American group… your contributions to what you are doing here and to the larger community are unparalleled.”

Since its foundation, Ding Ding TV organized events such as the Silicon Valley Food & Art Festival and Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs Forum and Festival; produced shows Innovation Dialog and Battle Silicon, and created and hosted community events Celebrate Lunar New Year Together and Asian American Stories Video Contest. Since 2016, Ding Ding TV hosted the Civic Leadership Forum Silicon Valley four times each year. Its goal is to empower the next generation in civic engagement and civic leadership in the Asian American communities while creating a national network of civic-minded organizations and leaders to work in unity.

Over the years, Ding Ding TV Created 3,000+ videos on YouTube covering Asian American stories, civic engagement, and entrepreneurship, sent out 1,000+ newsletters in both English and Chinese, reaching over 30,000 subscribers weekly, published one million+ pieces of online content with more than 100,000 followers across social media platforms, and organized 500+ events in collaboration with over 800 AAPI organizations nationwide.

In 2021, Diana Ding launched a non-profit extension of Ding Ding TV – Silicon Valley Community Media. It is a new chapter as Ding Ding TV continues its mission to empower and unify AAPI and ethnic leaders, giving them a platform to share the rich stories and contributions of Asian Americans in the United States and around the world.

In 2022, Silicon Valley Community Media partnered with Hollywood award-winning filmmaker Tony Shyu to produce a groundbreaking documentary, “Builders of Silicon Dream.” This powerful documentary highlights the profound impact that AAPI founders and tech pioneers have had on technology and society, not only in Silicon Valley but globally. The documentary will air on PBS.

A message from Diana Ding:

For 15 years, Ding Ding TV has been on an extraordinary journey, amplifying Asian American stories to foster understanding and unity within our communities and beyond. Together, we’ve made significant strides, but there is still so much more we can do.

As mentioned on Friday, we are thrilled to launch the 2025 Asian American Stories (AAS) Competition, a powerful platform to uplift AAPI voices, foster unity, and combat anti-Asian sentiment through storytelling. The competition celebrates the resilience, creativity, and contributions of our community under the theme: “My Gift to America.”

However, we can’t do it without you – we need your continued support to make it happen.

This is not just about funding—it’s about taking a stand for representation, inclusion, and understanding. Here’s how you can help make an impact today:

1. Become an AAS Sponsor: Whether as a Title Sponsor ($50,000), a Silver Sponsor ($2,000), or an individual contributor, your financial commitment amplifies these voices and creates opportunities for meaningful change.

2. Volunteer to Help: We need more volunteers to make the AAS Contest successful. If you can assist in any way, please contact me directly.

3. Spread the Word: Encourage participation by sharing this initiative with your networks. Contest submissions open on Jan.15, 2025. Our Awards Gala will be on May 1, 2025.

Your contributions will directly support this year’s competition, empowering creators, building cultural bridges, and fostering a stronger, more inclusive future. As a sponsor, you’ll gain visibility on Silicon Valley Community Media platforms, recognition during the Awards Gala, and the opportunity to align your values with a cause that inspires and unites.

This is our moment to take action. Let’s ensure the voices of the AAPI community are heard, celebrated, and amplified.

Please visit to pledge your support today. Together, we can create something extraordinary.
