Hundreds Rally Behind Mark Farrell for Mayor at Sunset Rec Center – Ding Ding TV Report

On Wednesday, October 30th, hundreds of people gathered at the Sunset Rec Center at a rally in a show of support for Mark Farrell, who is running for the Mayor of San Francisco. Addressing the crowd, Farrell stressed his commitment to tackling San Francisco’s most difficult challenges with proven experience and tenacity. He shared his vision for a more prosperous and safer city.

Farrell previously served as the 44th Mayor of San Francisco and is the CADC’s top-endorsed candidate in the 2024 race for the San Francisco Mayor. Farrell spoke about his work as the Mayor and the efforts of his administration that resulted in clearing out of encampments in just six months during his tenure. He also talked about his dedication to public safety and initiative to fully fund and staff the San Francisco Police Department.

In 2017, Farrell authored an advanced legislation that implemented Laura’s Law, which provides court-ordered and community-based mental health treatments to those who need them.

During his tenure as the longest-serving Board of Supervisors Budget Chair, Farrell worked with Mayor Ed Lee to create targeted tax breaks for high-tech companies to bring them to the Mid-Market area and revitalize it into a tech and economic hub. In 2012, his TIC-Condo Conversion legislation highlighted his dedication to helping renters transition into homeowners. It is another cause Farrell champions in his current mayoral campaign. Farrell also has two decades of experience in finance, law, and business management.

Some of Farrell’s policy priorities include addressing the public safety crisis and the rocketing fentanyl and overdose crisis, street conditions and homelessness, economic revitalization of Downtown with incentives to boost the local economy and employment, increasing the housing supply, public education, universal childcare, and commitment to make San Francisco’s services more accessible to all residents and businesses through the use of technology.

Mark Farrell’s campaign expressed gratitude for the community’s support and strong turnout at the rally. Farrell’s campaign spokesperson stated: “Today’s rally confirms what we know—that our city needs an experienced leader with a clear vision and the courage to act… Mark Farrell is ready to guide San Francisco toward a better future.”

Some of the organizations endorsing Mark Farrell in the mayoral race include the San Francisco Building and Construction Trade Council, San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, Chinese American Democratic Club, Marina Times, Stop Crime Action, San Francisco Association of Realtors, Small Property Owners of San Francisco, Grow SF, TogetherSF Action, Supervisor Catherine Stefani, Association for Advancement of Asians, and Edwin M. Lee Asian Pacific Democratic Club (among others).

In September, Mark Farrell participated in Asian American Media Roundtable. The Roundtable was a diverse representation of different Asian communities. It was composed of Vandana Kumar, CEO of India Currents; Minh Thanh Tran, president of Vietnamese in San Jose; Don Orozco of The Filipino Community of Santa Clara County, represented by Yoliesil Pontino, SVP of Global Maharlika Foundation; and Joel Wong of the National Asian American United. The panel questioned Mr. Mark Farrell concerning his position and take on the Asian American community.
