Asian American Stories Video Contest Judge David Louie at Vietnamese Culture Club’s school-wide Coffee Talk

Silicon Valley media legend and Emmy-winning journalist David Louie shared his stories at Asian American Stories Video Contest first place winner Vietnamese Culture Club’s school-wide Coffee Talk event. The gathering brought together a diverse group of over 30 attendees, including VCC members, writers from Helios Magazine, and reporters from the Oracle Newspaper. Attendees enjoyed traditional Vietnamese iced coffee, with more than 60 cups served, creating an authentic and engaging atmosphere for networking and discussion.

David Louie, renowned for his trailblazing career and influential role in media, shared inspiring insights about breaking barriers in journalism, his career journey, and the importance of effective writing. His experience and advice resonated with students and media professionals alike, sparking a meaningful conversation about storytelling and its impact in today’s world.

A highlight of the event was the award presentation for the 2023-2024 Asian American Story Video-Essay Contest, where Louie served as a guest judge. He had the honor of presenting 1st place certificates to VCC and its 11 talented members, who contributed to the award-winning video. The VCC members recognized for their outstanding work included Sylvie Nguyen, Chilton Chau, Ryan Panepucci, Aman Solanki, Toby Wong, Aditya Swaminathan, Zach Willis, Hannah Baum, Yael Gottesman, Elijah Williams, and Arthur Tran (alumni).

This memorable Coffee Talk event exemplified the power of media, storytelling, and collaboration, leaving a lasting impact on all those who participated.
