Ding Ding TV Interviewed Kelly G. Cox for City Council District 6
In 2019, Kelly G. Cox began working at Santa Clara University with a determination to build a better future for her kids and herself. Over the next four years, she balanced three jobs as a single mom, returned to college, and graduated as a valedictorian candidate (although not selected, she was able to give her speech), rising from Administrative Assistant to Assistant Dean of the School of Engineering. In these years, she learned more about herself than in the rest of her life combined. She discovered that courage isn’t the absence of fear but the act of conquering it, and she realized there’s a lot of badass in her. She rooted myself in the core values of discipline, growth, and empathy.
As her children grew older, she deepened her involvement in her community, serving on the Parks and Recreation Commission from 2020 to 2024, including a term as Chair. She now serves on the Police Chief Advisory Committee and is working towards a doctorate in Social Justice Leadership at SCU.
