104 vote centers open this weekend for in-person voting
The Registrar of Voters’ (ROV) Office announced today that all 104 Vote Centers will be open this Saturday, March 2, for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. Voters will be able to vote in-person, drop off a Vote by Mail ballot, or take advantage of additional services such as language assistance, curbside voting, and accessible voting systems.
Twenty-three (23) Vote Centers opened last Saturday, February 24, and an additional eighty-one (81) Vote Centers will open tomorrow, March 2. Vote Center hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., depending on location. All locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, March 5. Visit rovservices.sccgov.org to find the nearest Vote Center location.
“Vote Centers offer the traditional voting experience” said Shannon Bushey, Registrar of Voters. “All Vote Centers are fully equipped to handle any voting needs. We encourage all eligible voters to vote.”
The Registrar also added that No Party Preference voters (those who have registered to vote without identifying a political party preference) will not have any presidential candidates listed on their ballots, but they do have options:
To vote in the American Independent, Democratic, or Libertarian party primaries, visit the ROV office, located at 1555 Berger Drive, Bldg. 2 in San Jose, or any Vote Center and request a crossover ballot. One does NOT need to re-register for that party.
To vote in the Green, Peace & Freedom, or Republican party primaries, one MUST re-register for that party, in person, at the ROV office or at any Vote Center.
Voters are reminded that they can cast their ballot in one of three ways: in-person at any Vote Center or the ROV office, by mail, or at any of the 102 Official Drop Boxes which are open 24 hours a day, and on Election Day until 8 p.m. Official Drop Box locations can be found online at rovservices.sccgov.org/Home/IndexPost?selected=do.
Voters can track the status of their ballot by registering at wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov. The service will send status notifications by text, email, or phone when the ballot is mailed, received, and counted.
