San Mateo County Event Center Proudly Serves as Fiscal Agent for the New Historical Exhibit

The Domini Hoskins Black History Museum and Learning Center opened its doors on Friday, February 2, 2024, marking another milestone for Carolyn Hoskins and the start of Black History Month. The Museum and Learning Center currently located at 890 Jefferson Ave, Redwood City, hopes to secure this location and create a vibrant space for education, celebration, and reflection year-round as a cultural landmark.

The grand opening ceremony was attended by Senator Becker, County Supervisors Mueller and Canepa, and other community leaders, supporters, and esteemed guests who were able to see Senator Becker present Carolyn Hoskins with a $2 million check that will go toward a more permanent location and hopefully will allow the 890 Jefferson address to become the year-round site for the museum and learning center. The San Mateo County Event Center is honored to serve as the fiscal agent for the Domini Hoskins Black History Museum and Learning Center, facilitating the growth and sustainability of this important institution. As a key partner, the Event Center recognizes the significance of supporting initiatives that contribute to the enrichment of cultural diversity and education within the community.

“The Domini Hoskins Black History Museum and Learning Center is a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives and the importance of preserving and sharing Black history all year, not just for a designated month” said Dana Stoehr, CEO of the San Mateo County Event Center. “We are proud to be the fiscal agent for this remarkable institution and look forward to the positive impact it will have on the community for years to come.”

The museum features a wide range of historical artifacts, exhibits, educational publications, and interactive displays that highlight the achievements, contributions, and resilience of Black individuals throughout history. With a commitment to fostering inclusivity and understanding, the Domini Hoskins Black History Museum and Learning Center aims to inspire and educate visitors of all ages.
