Civic Leadership Forums Silicon Valley 2023

Celebrate Lunar New Year Together

The event was a first in a few ways. In 2023, the state of California declared Lunar New Year a state holiday. Also, it was the first time a diverse community gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year together. The festivities included Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Black, and Chinese Americans. After the recent mass shootings in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, California, it was a time to uplift the community, promote diversity, and stop the hate.

Civic Leadership Forum Silicon Valley – What’s next for Asian Americans after universities discriminate against us?

On October 9th, Ding Ding TV, US-China Chamber of Commerce Silicon Valley & SVCA Foundation held Civic Leadership Forum Silicon Valley. The topic of the forum was “What is the next for Asian Americans after universities discriminate against us?”

During the COVID era for the past three years, there is a huge impact of student’s learning mode in their academic and extracurricular activities, as well as the college admissions.

Despite the major win over the Harvard lawsuits for the admission against well qualified Asian American applicants, what are our next steps? If we ever face this situation or dilemma again how should we act or respond?
