Civic Leadership Forum “We Are All Americans!” – Yang Shao (Fremont Council Member)
Yang Shao (Fremont City Councilmember) gives a speech at the Civic Leadership Forum – “We Are All Americans!”
As our country is getting more divided, we are losing sight of what makes our country great. We are a country of immigrants, collectively creating the American Dream with the best and the brightest people from around the world. As we are getting more xenophobic and intolerant of newcomers, we are losing our competitive edge. When Asian Hate crime and gun violence continue to rise, we are calling on our community members to come together to demand systemic changes, build bridges through understanding, and appreciate our differences.
Civic Leadership Forum Silicon Valley “We Are All Americans” gathered over 200 people in South San Francisco. Organized by Silicon Valley Community Media, Ding Ding TV, and American TeoChow Foundation with Diana Ding as the moderator, the event gathered a number of elected officials.
It included Nancy Tung (a trial prosecutor and former Deputy California Attorney General), Yang Shao (Fremont City Councilmember), Lily Mei (Mayor of Fremont, California State Senate Candidate), Sheng Thao (Oakland Councilmember, Oakland Mayor Candidate), Raymond A. Buenaventura (Daly City Vice Mayor).
This Civic Leadership Forum was supported in part by funding provided by the State of California, administered by the California State Library.
