Keynote Speaker: Steve Hoffman, Captain & CEO of Founders Space

Steve Hoffman, or Captain Hoff as he’s called in Silicon Valley, is the Captain & CEO of Founders Space, one of the world’s leading startup accelerators. He’s also a venture investor, serial entrepreneur, and author of several award-winning books. These include “Make Elephants Fly” (published by Hachette) and “Surviving a Startup” (published by HarperCollins).

Hoffman was founder and Chairman of the Producers Guild Silicon Valley Chapter, served on the Board of Governors of the New Media Council, and was a founding member of the Academy of Television’s Interactive Media Group.

While in Hollywood, Hoffman worked as a TV development executive at Fries Entertainment, known for producing over a hundred TV shows, acquired by MGM. He went on to pioneer interactive television with his venture-funded startup Spiderdance, which produced interactive TV shows with NBC, MTV, Turner, Warner Brothers, History Channel, Game Show Network, and others.

In Silicon Valley, Hoffman founded two more venture-backed startups, in the areas of games and entertainment, and worked as Mobile Studio Head for Infospace, with such hit mobile games as Tetris, Wheel of Fortune, Tomb Raider, Thief, Hitman, Skee-Ball, and X-Files.

Hoffman went on to launch Founders Space, with the mission to educate and accelerate entrepreneurs. Founders Space has become one of the top startup accelerators in the world. Hoffman has trained hundreds of startup founders and corporate executives in the art of innovation and provided consulting to many of the world’s largest corporations, including Qualcomm, Huawei, Bosch, Intel, Disney, Warner Brothers, NBC, Gulf Oil, Siemens, and Viacom.

Hoffman earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of California and a master’s degree in film and television from the University of Southern California. He currently resides in San Francisco but spends most of his time in the air, visiting startups, investors, and innovators all over the world.

Bo is currently the Assistant Dean of Global Executive Education & Chief Representative for Europe at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB). Bo had an over-20-year successful business career in Global Business Development, Innovation, Strategy, Supply Chain Management, M&A, etc. He served as the senior executive at the headquarters of many Fortune 500 companies such as Monsanto, Cargill, Pfizer, Wrigley and Mars.

After a long corporate life, Bo became a serial entrepreneur and investor, he is also a China expert and an advocate of EU-China trade. Combining his extensive business experiences and in-depth knowledge, Bo serves as a mentor & advisor to startups and scaleups at incubators, accelerators and co-working spaces around the world. Meanwhile, he is a well sought inspiring speaker at renowned international conferences, forums, TV media and annual corporate meetings.

Investment Expert: Dr. Min Wanli, Founder and CEO of North Summit Capital, Former Chief Machine Intelligence Scientist of Alibaba Cloud

Dr Min, Founder and CEO of North Summit Capital, prior to this he held the position of Chief Machine Intelligence Scientist at Alibaba Cloud. In 2017, Dr. Min was named by Forbes as a leading technologist driving China’s A.I. revolution and also appointed to the advisory committee of the next-generation A.I. strategy under China’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

Dr. Min received a Ph.D. in statistics from The University of Chicago and B.S from the University of Science & Technology of China. His research area includes probability, stochastic process, time series analysis, machine learning, smart traffic and signal processing. He served as a researcher at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, IBM Singapore, and Google before joining Alibaba in 2013.

Investment Expert: Dr Matthew Wang, President of Cybernaut Investment Group; Chairman of Cybernaut International; Former Global VP of IBM

Dr. Wang received his Ph.D in computer science from the Vanderbilt University and his M.B.A from the George Washington University. He previously served as Global Vice President of IBM and General Manager of IBM China Development Lab. He was responsible for the research and development of big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other strategic platform, as well, provided technology products and enterprise solutions for worldwide customers of IBM.

Since joining Cybernaut in 2016, Dr. Wang has been in charge of managing the M&A Fund (60 Billion RMB) and the Technology Fund (60 Billion RMB). The Technology Fund focuses on promoting cloud cities by designing and constructing technology towns within 15 selected provincial capital cities and investments in big data and cloud computing companies.

Investment Expert: Angelica Anton, Founder & Managing Partner of SILK Ventures

Angelica Anton is the Founder and Managing Partner of SILK Ventures, an investment company created for the sustainability age, with a portfolio of investments in companies that address systemic challenges such as financial inclusion, digital infrastructure, and healthcare. Prior to founding SILK Ventures, Ms Anton was a Senior Associate at London-based VC firm QVentures, Vice-President at Oxford Entrepreneurs, and an Advisor in the department of foreign investment of the Hangzhou Government. She was featured on Innovate Finance’s “Women in Fintech Powerlist”, sits on the Innovation Board of the UK’s Confederation of Business Industry (CBI) and that of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and has been recognised as a Forbes 30 under 30. An Oxford University alumna with a Master’s degree in Chinese Studies and an undergraduate degree in Business, Ms Anton speaks 6 languages and is a former pianist and Maths Olympic, as well as a collector of modern art. Besides investing, she is currently taking an executive degree in Public Leadership at Harvard Kennedy School.

Investment Expert: Ge Yang (Gary), Founding Partner of Sky Saga Capital

Gary is a well-known VC investor. His investment style is famous for professional value and in-depth management. He has invested in dozens of outstanding companies such as Yanjiyou (⾔⼏⼜), Corerain Techonology, Power28, Lanlonglong (懒龙龙), Douban Music, etc.

He is mentor and consultant for the Talent Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Talent Center of the Ministry of Science and technology, the High-level Talent Center of Chaoyang District, Beijing and other platforms,

He gave lectures on entrepreneurship and economics at more than 100 universities and business schools such as Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, Tsinghua University, and University of International Business and Economics. He is also a council member at China Venture Capital Association.

Investment Expert: Michael Peng, Chairman of China O2O Alliance & CEO of Shenzhen Qianhai Eagle Investment Co., Ltd.

Michael is a senior international business management expert, authoritative expert in the field of Internet O2O, angel investor and business mentor. He studied at the University of Munich in Germany and obtained an MBA degree. Michael lived in Europe for 15 years and has more than 10 years of experience in international business management consulting in Europe and North America, spanning telecommunications, IT, finance and manufacturing. He successfully helped and mentored dozens of Fortune 500 companies such as Deutsche Telekom and Adidas and famous German scientific research institutions with transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

After returning to China, Michael served as a management consultant for listed companies such as China Unicom, and also taught at Tsinghua University in Beijing. After 2016, he has been based in the Pearl River Delta Bay Area to carry out angel investment, business counselling and incubation. He is a mentor and angel investor in a number of innovative projects. He has been invited by the Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship contest organised by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the Chinese government as a mentor for international teams and final judge for many consecutive years.
