What You Can Do to Stop Hate Crime? Rich Saito, Former Police Lieutenant tells you
Rich Saito is a former San Jose Police officer who tries to live up to the Japanese value “kyoko” or “public service”. Since Rich retired in 2006, he went back to being a Reserve Officer and continues to serve the City of San Jose as a volunteer Peace Officer. As a peace officer, he is a contact person for any public safety questions or concerns. He is constantly serving San Jose’s Japantown through community and cultural work. He is a docent at the Japanese American Museum of San Joseand also donates his time for the City of San Jose’s Office of Emergency Services providing communication services and disaster preparedness education to the local community. California States Assembly Evan Low and San Jose Councilmember Pam Foley organized a rally to Stop AAPI Hate on Saturday, Mar. 13th 2021. Nearly 1000 people from south bay gathering in front of San Jose City Hall with Lawmakers, Community Leaders to stand against the rise in hate crimes and discrimination against the Asian community.
Assemblymember Evan Low encouraged everyone to ask elected officials, police officers, and community leaders in his speech: What can we do together? Will you stand with us? Will you fight with us? Will you protect us? Most importantly: Will you love us?
Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee spoke to Ding Ding TV audience: “It’s not only a problem for Asians, but it’s also the problem for all the minorities. Together, we can #StopAAPIHate!”
