Learnings from Minneapolis: Building Black and AAPI Solidarity in the Wake of George Floyd and a Global Uprising
In the wake of the killing of George Floyd and a global uprising in support of Black lives, AAPI’s across the nation are asking themselves questions about what AAPI and Black solidarity looks like and what our role is as AAPI’s in the movement for building a more just world. This workshop will discuss the importance of AAPI’s building cross-racial solidarity with Black communities. We will explore the history of solidarity and tensions between communities and why building solidarity is important to us in fighting for a more just world. We will discuss lessons from building this solidarity in Minneapolis. Lastly, we will work to create concrete next steps towards building this solidarity with your local groups.
