2020 NCLF- Covid 19 Session 1: UCA’s Efforts, Food of Love Program
At this year NCLF, UCA is honored to present and share with the Asian American community its Food of Love program during the Pandemic and would like to discuss what impact this program has for the Chinese American community and beyond.
During the historic 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, like many others, Asian American communities have done its share to help with the relief efforts across the country. For many unique reasons and circumstances, Chinese American community has participated in the relief effort like never before, doing fundraising, procuring PPE for free distribution, delivering food to the people in need.
Our community has never seen itself so mobilized and so devoted to help. UCA has done its own share of these efforts by the Chinese community. Among other things UCA has done, its high impact program is Food of Love whereby UCA has successfully mobilized and connected Chinese communities in 128 cities in nearly all 50 states to service and deliver food to people in need or to hold local food drives during the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The scope of this program is a historic first for our community. And it is a turning point. At the presentation, We will introduce what we did and how we did it. We will present audience with pictures, videos and news reports about it. And we will hold a panel discussing what positive impact it has for our larger community in terms of charity and public service and how we can do better in the coming years.
