| Hurricane Laura has grown to a Category 4 storm with speeds up to 140 mph. It is on target to hit coastal cities in areas of Texas and Louisiana that have suffered much in recent years from hurricane damage. More than 500,0000 people are ordered to evacuate. Forecasters say this storm has the potential to dump massive amounts of rain, threaten lives and destroy homes and businesses. James Robison, American televangelist and the founder and President of the Christian relief organization Life Outreach International asked Christian to PRAY: Hurricane Laura will weaken before moving ashore and even turn away from a direct impact on land. Also pray for our crisis teams who are on alert and awaiting calls to move into action. According to CBS News: Hurricane Laura struck Louisiana as one of the most powerful storms in U.S. history, leaving widespread destruction across the state. At least six people were killed in Louisiana, including a 14-year-old girl and a 68-year-old man. The storm, now a tropical storm, tore apart homes and businesses and knocked out power to nearly one million customers in Texas and Louisiana. Meanwhile, Arkansas is under a state of emergency and is being lashed by damaging winds and flooding. Tornado watches are also posted in the region. |
