In time of COVID-19 by Liquan Zheng

It’s natural for us as humans to develop negative emotions during isolation, especially in a time of distress like the one we are experiencing right now. That’s why one should pay extra attention to one’s mental health before a disruption becomes severe, or worse, irreversible–In early stages of various mental illness, most patients report slight symptoms that quickly got out of their control. To prevent such mishaps from happening, we must give us times everyday for self-reflection: How is my mood? Did I feel any negative emotions? If yes, why?If you are diagnosed with certain illness, the method of coping is also very important:some chooses to find comfort through family bonding, some seeks comfort in spiritual enrichment like reading, some turns to less healthy ways: substance abuse, self-harm, Binge…choosing the wrong coping mechanism can feed the growth of a downward spiral. Even though the lockdown order limited our options of seeking help, nevertheless many online service and telephone service are still available to everyone–I want to use my short film to remind people of that.
