Speakers’ bios:
Nancy Alvarez is a low-income, single mom from East Palo Alto whose daughters are attending Stanford University and UC Merced. We affectionately call Nancy the “Latina Tiger Mom.” She strongly believes in the power of education to break the cycle of poverty and injustice in low-income communities. Her two daughters are wonderful, real-life, real-time examples of the cycle of poverty being broken.
Anjali Kausar is an Indian-American Mom and a very active community leader. Anjali is the C.E.O. for the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce. She strongly believes in quality education and opportunities for all children as our children are our future. And education sets the foundation for their ability to contribute to the constantly-changing global society.
Pragati Grover has served for four years on the Board of the Saratoga Union School District and is passionate about the education of our youth. She is a proud recipient of the 2011 Asian American Hero Award, an honor given to individuals who have made a significant impact in the community and who bridge differences among communities.
