On June 21st, the first day of the Civic Leadership USA 2019 national internship conference at Santa Clara University. The guest speaker is Lily Mei, the mayor of Fremont city. She shared her personal stories of growing up in Pennsylvania as an Asian American who suffered the discrimination and how she had been through of the civic journey then being a city mayor of Fremont in 2014 and a minority mayor in Fremont’s 63 years history. She emphasized the most important thing is to a leader, you have to speak out and ensure all people in the community feeling comfortable.
