Dr. Yue Cao, is tenure professor of Radiation oncology, Radiology and Biomedical Engineering, University of Michigan. She is a pioneer scientist and international leader in developing and applying physiological and metabolic MRI as a biomarker for precision radiation therapy of cancers. Dr. Cao gradated from University of Peking in physics in 1982, and then came to USA for Ph.D. as a CUSPEA student found by Dr. T.D. Lee. Dr. Cao leads a unique multi-discipline team in the University of Michigan funded by NIH. She is a member of executive committee of NCI quantitative imaging network (QIN). Dr. Cao’s team published many first class research papers in quantitative imaging as a biomarker for cancer therapy assessment. Their publications are often used in the discussions of the journal clubs of other schools, including Harvard University. She is invited as a panel speaker in many international organizations and conferences, including American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), European Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ESTRO), Chinese Anti-Cancer Society, ESTRO, and Chinese Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (CSTRO). She is a founding member of Sino-American Network for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (SANTRO) and devotes her efforts for collaboration and communication between Chinese and American therapeutic radiation oncology comminutes. She is an inventor for two US patents. Her visions of quantitative MRI in precision radiation therapy of cancers are influential.
