Job Title : Consul and head of Education Office, Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco
Jun Yang took up the current position at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco in February of 2014.
Before this job, he was Deputy Director General of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Chinese Ministry of Education, a position he held since January 2012. He served as Division Director and Deputy Division Director of American and Oceania Affairs under the department from mid-1999 to end of 2011, overseeing bilateral exchange programs between China and countries in both North and South Americas and South Pacific. He worked in the Chinese Embassy in London as Third Secretary in the Education Office between end of 1995 to mid-1999. Before London, he worked in the Division of Multi-lateral Cooperation, managing education programs funded by international organizations such as United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the education activities of China in Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) since he joined the ministry in mid-1988 after graduation.
Mr. Yang holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Shanghai International Studies University and a MBA from Cranfield University in England. He was a Chevening scholar for his graduate study between 2002 and 2003.
