Health, Healing, & Hope Virtual Conference
Black, Indigenous, Women of Color (BIWOC) Gathering Circle: Health, Healing, & Hope virtual conference
The goal of the BIWOC Gathering Circle is to create a dialogue among, Black women, Indigenous women, and women of color, health policy professionals and decision-makers, health care providers and relevant stakeholders about the key issues that uniquely or disproportionately impact on the health status and health care of women of color and people who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
This event will utilize an intersectional perspective to explore the challenges, opportunities, and strategies to address health and health care equity, as well as to explore the role of contemplative practices that impact on the holistic health of BIWOC and those who identify as LGBTQIA+. The event will also highlight why a data-driven approach and access to data is essential in addressing racial and social disparities in healthcare outcomes. Our vision is to make this year’s BIWOC Gathering Circle an engaging collaboration to imagine together how we can transform inequitable systems in New England and beyond.
The conference will consist of a keynote address, panels, affinity group sessions, opportunities to participate in facilitated afternoon wellness activities, recognizing the strengths and challenges of BIWOC women. It is our vision that participants will nurture their mind, body and spirit for a meaningful holistic experience. This year, we are explicitly focused on anti-racism, intersectionality, and promoting health equity for BIWOC and LGBTQIA+.
